Want to be a public speaker?

Les Brown and Mike Williams led a Speakers’ Training in Orlando produced by Valorie Parker. More than 100 speakers, business owners, corporate executives and I gathered to speak, learn, grow, and contribute. It was spirited to say the least. Here are a few tips and quotes of the many from Les and Mike:

In preparing for speaking egagements, do a needs assessment:

  • Interview members of the corporation/organization you’ll be speaking to
  • Learn the state of the organization and what keeps the people you’re speaking to up at night worrying, planning, etc.
  • Talk to the audience before you begin. Ask “what do people need to hear today”
  • Take the time to prepare. “Those who fail to prepare, prepare to fail”

Ask yourself, “What do I, as a speaker, need to work on?”

One of my favorite quotes from Les was, “Sometimes you have to believe in somebody’s belief in you until your belief kicks in!” If you have speaker/trainer advice, add it to the conversation.

ALSO, I am completing my next book. Do you have a quote that is your favorite for inspiration? If so, let me know and give me the author of the quote. Maybe it’s you.

Peace and joy
