Is being joyful fun?

In his blog, a friend of mine who is a working artist says:

A Personal Experience, Joy in Doing What you Like: I experiment with colors and brush work. I start off with a vision of what I want to get down on the canvas. Sometimes I get close to what I had in mind. Often I am so far away from my original intent that I become concerned and frustrated. But always there is joy.
