The World of Work at the Kitchen Table
by Joel Martin ~ January 3rd, 2008. Filed under: Business, Personal Development.
Once upon a time, having a home-based business was declasse’…a very long time ago. Today with the advent of click product offerings, eBay, the use of technology - social networking, blogs, etc., multi-level marketing, affiliate programs of all sorts, and astute professionals now consultants, there are many CHBO (Chief Homebased Business Operators) running dynasties that began at the kitchen table who choose to stay there. Compiling the attraction of “firing your boss” and/or being your own boss, the fall out from down sizings, the restlessness of baby boomers who want to stay active rather than go quietly into the sunset and we have a reshaping of American business.
This from Inc.com: The home-based business is more than just the multi-level marketing that can be done off the kitchen table,” says Gene Fairbrother, lead small-business consultant for the National Association for the Self-Employed. “More people are starting to look to the home-based business as their primary business.” This is especially true in the professional services sector.
