To Hell with Depression. We’re gonna have a good year – That’s Leadership
Mitch Albom article in The Detroit Free Press “Detroiters carry on amid all the hardships” is both passionate and on target. Leadership is a state of mind that occasionally gets suppressed, but under stress and in the face of ridiculously high odds, the mind declares “we’ve had enough”, if life is going to get better it will because we say so. I know of Mitch Albom as a sports writer and TV commentator and in this article gives an understanding of why we need to be empathetic and supportive of Detroit, it’s automobile companies, it’s football team and the people who still live there. Many of the big cities and communities that where responsible for building (making with there hands) the US economy have fallen on difficult times, primarily because this country has stopped making stuff, physical stuff. Below is Albom on Charlie Rose this past Friday, where his passion is clearly visible. He makes the case that Detroit’s problems are a precursor to what can and may already be happening across the rest of the country.
