Positively Powerful Leadership Development, what is leadership

Gabriel’s Angels Positively Powerful Pam Gaber

Pam Gaber’s professional corporate career spans over 15 years in the Animal Health Industry. She led the Veterinary and Pet Divisions pamfor Sandoz Pharmaceutical in the U.S. In 1998 she decided to retire and find her mission in life. Pam then founded Gabriel’s Angels, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. She recognized a pressing and documented need in the community to enhance the lives of severely neglected and abused children through the application of Pet Therapy. She has served as the full time CEO since the organization’s inception in 2001. The organization was named after Gaber’s Weimaraner Gabriel, a Registered Therapy Dog who began his career by visiting the children residing at the Crisis Nursery in Phoenix.

Pam Gaber is being honored at this year’s Positively Powerful Women Celebrate Awards Dinner, April 17th in Scottsdale.

During these visits Gabriel offered unconditional, non-judgmental love, and in a way only a dog could do teach the children empathy, trust and respect. These children who were robbed of their childhood by pam2those they once trusted were learning to trust again through the unconditional love of this gentle grey dog. Pam knew something special was happening and felt compelled to grow the organization to reach more children. “Over time,” she states “we saw that core behaviors such as empathy, compassion and trust were developing in the children. These behaviors are critical as they have been shown to intervene in the cycle of violence that plagues victims of abuse and neglect. The therapy dogs were reaching these children in a way no human could.” Pam has focused the past nine years on expanding the reach of Gabriel’s Angels while ensuring sustainability of the organization. Currently there are seven full time and two part time employees. Expansion of Gabriel’s Angels is the vision Pam holds for the organization.
