The Responsible Life — A Positive Start to the Year

January 01, 2010 | Joel Martin | Comments 0

It Ain't Heavy

As we move into a new year, new territories, and new possibilities, the question I’m asking myself and others is “what causes, paths, matter the most going forward”. Within this wondering is the conversation, “we can have it all” when it all pertains to what matters.

To have it all, what kinds of efforts, trust, new relationships, habits, spirit, etc. am I prepared to develop that will have 2010 be consistent with what I am imagining. I have an opportunity for a new beginning. (One always does but for ritualistic reasons we attach them to a new year.) I say that 2010 can be transformational.  2009 was a remarkable year for many reasons. Next year I am choosing transformational as my key. More, better, different, than 2009 is not so bad but to a lesser degree I’ve been there and done that. There is no time to get comfortable and cozy with the past, its gone.

Starting off 2010 in a positive way gives momentum to the responsible life and conversations.  Not Pollyanna conversations where everything will be “fine, great, and wonderful” rather  ones that say “let’s choose to get up, get out and do something that brings joy, value, understanding, and promise to other human beings. To produce magic, the unexpected, and progress to benefit us all of and where we all rejoice in our passion for life, our love, our gits, our purpose, and our appreciation for each other.”

I’ve had enough of my listening to the negative chatter of toxic people, the nay sayers, doom and gloomers, Chicken Little congressmen/ congresswomen/TV talking heads and various other “experts” that I allow into my consciousness. I fully realize that they only exist because I’ve allowed them in. This gives insight into the power each of has to create something transformational and positive for ourselves and the people in the world with us. Let’s have a positive start for 2010 and check in on 2011 with how we did.
