Getting From this vision To the reality of a 5th Positively Powerful Woman Awards…

What it took to be able to have a 5th Annual 5th Positively Powerful Woman Awards was commitment to our vision, drive, resourcefulness, creativity and immense collaboration and support. In addition to our Positively Powerful sponsors, table host partners, attendees, volunteers, director of photography, public relation and social media experts, printer and venue staff, “Getting From A Vision To Reality” (the theme of the 5th annual awards celebration) also took having good friends that cared as much about our success as they did about their own.

One of these dear friends is Susan L. Taylor, Editor-in-Chief Emeritus Of Essence Magazine And Founder, National CARES Mentoring Movement. For nearly three decades, Susan L. Taylor was the driving force behind one of the most celebrated Black-owned businesses of our time, she is an award winning legend in the magazine publishing world.

Today, her passion and focus is the National CARES Mentoring Movement, a massive campaign to help secure our children who are in peril and losing ground. She is a friend who cared enough to send this wonderful message which includes within it a reminder that we all have divine gifts and a responsibility to our children.

A Message To You From Susan L. Taylor

My time at Essence was a great blessing…My life has been transformed, and I am grateful. For me, this Movement is very personal; it is my way of giving back to my community that has given so much to me. Mentoring works miracles. By committing just one hour of your time each month, you can save a young person’s life. Thank you in advance for answering our young people’s cry for help. I look forward to our coming together to do the most important work of our life: The critical quest to save and secure our young.

MENTOR, the largest free online registry of mentoring organizations in the nation. If you know of a mentoring organization in your area that is working effectively with our children but is not registered with us, please encourage the director to contact www.mentoring.org/register
