I'll take it one step further: in my work, coaching and developing women professionals -- entrepreneurs and executives alike -- I say "just sit down." Women need to stop waiting for the invitation or permission. Of course, there's much more to the process but on balance it comes down to women's acquiring and honing the traditionally avoided behaviors of , for example, networking, intentionally building a sphere of influence, crafting a strong personal brand and most importantly, rainmaking. In addition and especially in male dominated industries, it's also important for women to develop resilience and take individual responsibility for their careers.

Hi Karla, that is so true. I recently watched Oprah's last telecast and was reminded that we all have challenges and that what gets us past them is the love of what we do. For me it's speaking and coaching people on achieving their very best. Thanks for the visit and your comments. Lets stay in touch.

HI, my name is Amanda Waring and I am recognised as being the leading exponent on dignity and caring from the heart within health and social care arenas in the Uk. Compassionate care is vital and it is an aspect I haver highlighted as a filmmaker and passionate campaigner for older peoples rights. I speak around the world about the need in health and social care for a greater understanding of how caring from the heart is not a luxury but a neccessity . The song that I wrote and sang for Dignity Action Day is about inspiring our humanity and celebrating diversity, and this as well as extracts of my films and interview with Sir Michael Parkinson are all available on my website. My film WHAT DO YOU SEE? i made in memory of my MOTHER the actress Dame Dorothy Tutin after witnessing the lack of compassionate care she received at the age of 70. I sold my flat to make this film, as it was too important to me not to be made. Thousands around the world use my film to highlight the need for compassion, interaction, and dignity. At the end of a person's life it will be the love that they have received that they will remember. Love in care is not a dirty word either. I will be coming to the usa next year to speak and look forward to sharing the need for compassion in action in all health and social care arenas.
